Whether you need a break from the mundane or some time to unplug, Quinn Cabin is both a relaxing destination and a convenient starting point for day trips to some of Northern Michigan's most beautiful towns. Located on beautiful Log Lake in Kalkaska (see the top section of your ring finger if you're using your hand as a map), Quinn Cabin is just 30 minutes from Elk Rapids, Torch Lake, or Shanty Creek/Schuss Mountain, and 45 minutes from the heart of Traverse City. If you'd like to adventure a little further, you can easily explore Charlevoix, Petoskey, or head to historic Mackinac Island for the day.
For a shorter stay, simply relax with a good book by the lake or enjoy some good music and the beautiful views from any room in the cabin. We also provide two kayaks, a row boat and a paddle boat for guest use from spring until early fall! Or, if you would simply love a change of scenery while you work from home, come enjoy the beautiful lake views while using our complimentary wifi.
Don't miss the complete website photo gallery of over 70 photos to see the cabin and property in each of the four uniquely beautiful seasons in Kalkaska. You can also get the full picture by following our cute little knotty pine cabin on Instagram @quinn_cabin or on Facebook @Quinn Cabin, Kalkaska. There is also a feed to our Instagram page right at the bottom of this site. We are pretty active on social media throughout the year, so make sure to check it out!
Our Commitment to Our Guests
We know that there are hundreds of places you could choose to rent for your family vacation, and that you want it to be a wonderful experience. Purchasing a family cabin has been a lifelong dream of ours, and a decision that resulted after more than two years of searching. Since we bought Quinn Cabin in late 2019, we have continued to improve the property so that it feels comfortable and homey- not just for our family, but also for yours!
This is not about profit for our family. Would we love to make money from it some day? Of course. Are we right now? Nope. We promised if we were going to open the cabin to guests, we were going to do it the right way. We shopped around for some of the most comfy furniture, highly rated kayaks, soft bed and bath linens, and quality kitchenware. We hired an outstanding cleaner and have great contractor partners, so any emergency needs can be addressed immediately and our guests can have a wonderful stay. Your enjoyment, safety and comfort are ALWAYS our top priorities.
Always Building Better
In order to ensure your stay is worry-free, we continue to make necessary and desirable updates. In the first year and a half we've added forced air conditioning and heat with new ductwork throughout the cabin, we replaced the entire roof, upgraded the electrical, replaced the water heater, updated the bathroom complete with a custom tile shower and all new everything, replaced the water pump, replaced the old septic system, and gave the kitchen a complete facelift including new appliances and under-cabinet lighting.
We provide two pack 'n plays*, two booster seats for the dining table, bibs, children's utensils and dishes, games and basic arts and crafts supplies. Our littles love playing by the lake- and swimming during summertime! They also love to explore the property, including our undeveloped lot directly across the street. You and your kids will likely find a variety of wildlife around the property including squirrels, chipmunks, deer, colorful insects, woodpeckers and other colorful birds, owls, raccoons, various mushrooms, toads, frogs, geese, loons, heron, crayfish, snails, bluegill, bass and trout...just to name a few. A short five minute drive away you can also take the kids to the Imagination Station at Chalker Park.
*Please note that we do not provide any bed linens or small bath towels for babies and toddlers. Please make sure to include those in your packing list.
We understand that many travelers are intentionally choosing vacation rentals over hotels out of an abundance of caution during (and likely after) the COVID-19 pandemic. We adhere to Airbnb's Enhanced Cleaning Process, diligently following CDC cleaning protocols.
Have you made it this far and wonder if your pet can come along for vacation? We certainly understand how much your fur friends mean to you. Unfortunately, guest pets are not allowed. But don't worry! If you don't have a usual kennel or a close friend who cares for your pet when you're away, we've had only great experiences using the Rover app to hire pet sitters and housesitters! And, honestly, vacations are always more relaxing when you don't have to see to potty breaks or other unexpected pet accidents throughout the trip.
