Ready to get away?

Whether you need a break from the mundane or some time to unplug, Quinn Cabin is both a relaxing destination and a convenient starting point for day trips to some of Northern Michigan's most beautiful towns. We have several 5-star reviews and the nicest personal messages in our Guest Book. Our guests love the property, the cleanliness, the beautiful lake views, all the amenities and the very convenient location five minutes from the intersection of Michigan Highway 72 and U.S. Highway 131.

Located on beautiful Log Lake in Kalkaska, Quinn Cabin is just five to ten minutes from grocery stores, restaurants, Cherry Street Market and the Kalkaska Farmer's Market (both seasonal), banks, a laundromat, and seasonal festivals like the National Trout Festival and Winterfest. For a wider variety of dining, shopping, and outdoor adventure...just 30 to 45 minutes away is Elk Rapids, Torch Lake, Shanty Creek and Schuss Mountain, or downtown Traverse City. Quinn Cabin is also less than 15 minutes from horse trails, three golf courses, and fly fishing on the Manistee River!

For a shorter stay, simply relax by the lake, cuddle up on the couch and enjoy the gorgeous lake view, or put on a record and dance with the family before dinnertime. Enjoy shops like Quirky Crate Headquarters and Sweet Shannon's and you owe it to yourself to order pizza delivery from Nico's or G's!

If you're looking for outdoor fun, bring your fishing license and gear and hit the lake right out back, any time of year. Hikers and skiers can look forward to Upper Manistee Headwaters: The Milock Family Preserve, Seven Bridges, Brinkman Bog Nature Preserve, or Hartwick Pines State Forest or head an hour west to Sleeping Bear Dunes for breathtaking views while hiking or snowshoeing.

Quaint, Comfortable and Convenient

Quinn Cabin is a single story 806 square foot home on a private drive and on private, no-wake Log Lake in Kalkaska, Michigan. The property has plenty of room for parking in the large front yard, including space for a small boat or personal watercrafts, travel trailers or snowmobiles. There is also a large butterfly garden on the right side of the front yard. The backyard has a wide staircase that leads down to the lake- with solar lights to guide your way down to the dock during spring through fall evenings. Guests can enjoy 100 feet of private lake frontage for swimming, and using the provided paddle boat, two kayaks and row boat. The wooded property directly across the road from Quinn Cabin is ours so it's also available if you have little ones who love to look for toads, salamanders and caterpillars.

Kalkaska gets a great deal of snow in the winter and Log Lake visitors will likely see snowmobiles and ice shanties on the frozen lake all winter long. The private road is plowed the entire season, as are the roads in town. The driveway will also be plowed for guests. We can even make sure to set the Nest smart thermostat for your comfort if you let us know in advance what temperature you'd like the cabin to be for your arrival!

The original log cabin, built in 1948, boasts high ceilings and exposed pine log beams and duct work, and it is the heart of this charming family cabin. It includes the kitchen and dining space, a sun porch with 180 degree views of the lake and back yard, as well as the original cabin bedroom with its loft-like pine pony walls that do not adjoin with the high ceiling, a comfortable full size bed and small closet. (This bedroom is not as closed off and private as the primary, but our guests find it very comfortable and perfect for the early riser of the group.)

The two additions built several decades later include a romantic primary bedroom with a very comfortable King bed, a living room, and the newly renovated bathroom. The additions were built with ceilings around 6' 5" for energy efficiency. For this reason, the tile shower is around 6' 3" high. On the other hand, the central air is extra cool and refreshing in the summer months, and the heat is extra cozy warm in winter months. The cabin also includes a queen sofa sleeper in the living room, a twin daybed on the (non-climate-controlled) sun porch that can convert to a queen or be used as two separate twin beds, and two pack 'n plays for babies or toddlers.

The fully stocked, newly updated kitchen (spring 2021) includes a small refrigerator, oven and stove, microwave, toaster oven, dual sink with dish rack and drain board, a convenient coffee station with your choice of a Keurig, drip maker, or French press- as well as coffee mugs, coffee k-cups, sugar and powdered creamer. The kitchen also includes spices and condiments for guest use, as well as dish towels, dishes, cookware and utensils. The large, practical island offers food prep space for cooking and additional cabinet space for your groceries. In warmer months, there is also a gas grill right outside the front door.

The clean new bathroom has a bright tile shower with a dispenser filled with body wash, shampoo and conditioner. You'll also enjoy new flooring, a new toilet, new vanity and sink, and new LED-lit mirror. There are plenty of bars and hooks for towels. (During warmer months you can also use the clothes line in the front yard for beach towels and bathing suits.) The bathroom linen closet is stocked with plush new bath towels, washcloths and bath mats, an iron, a hair dryer, clothes steamer, and other necessities.

WiFi is provided for your convenience, and the smart TV makes connecting to your favorite streaming networks easy. There is also a blu-ray player, record player and Bluetooth speaker, a small collection of vinyl records, a small DVD collection, and board games and puzzles for rainy days.

If you're like us and can't sit still, you will love how close this vacation rental is to countless lakes, beach towns, state parks and preserves, and other Pure Michigan attractions that you can enjoy any time of year. The excellent location of Quinn Cabin, near the intersection of 131 and 72, is perfect for all of your Northern Michigan road trips and adventures. If you are into hiking, cycling, fishing, swimming, golf, wine tasting, craft beers, kayaking, tubing, dining and shopping- you'll love this convenient Northern Michigan location!

Of course, if you still have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out! We are happy to answer any questions you have about the property, amenities, location, nearby attractions or day trips, rates and availability.

Our guests love this place!

"My family of four just returned from a 5-day trip and the location, housing, amenities and gracious hosts were everything we needed for a memorable time.

The boys loved having their own room. We loved having a massive king bed. Hot water and cozy indoor temps abound. WiFi and Disney+ made the escape a little (okay a lot) easier with kiddos. Linens and towels were fancy AF! Several dance parties ensued to the small but jam-tastic record collection. Everything was clean and orderly, and any questions we had were easily answered.

You feel like you're in your own little corner of the world when you're in the cabin, but close to northern adventures.

We easily visited:

- The South Boardman Nature Preserve
- Deadman's Hill in Elmira
- The Jordan River National Fish Hatchery
- Hartwick Pines State Park
And if you don't want to drive anywhere, there are roads and a plot of woods to explore just out the front door. A grocery store and take-out options are just up the road.
We're really looking forward to our next visit. We definitely fell in love with this sweet little place in just a few days!"
